De Pere Rugby
De Pere Rugby was started in 1995 as one of three high school teams that created the NEW Youth Rugby. Tom "TR" Rolf was a founder of NEW Youth Rugby as well as the De Pere team, which he would coach from 1995 through 2005. He had played rugby at Stevens Point and for the Green Bay Celtics for many years.

De Pere Rugby plays 15s as well as 7s rugby at the high school level for boys. Our 15s season runs April-June, with practices starting in March. Our regular season is played throughout Northeast Wisconsin and is followed by the state wide playoffs, culminating with a State Tournament in Madison. 7s is played during the summer at various tournaments through the state.

Middle school tackle rugby competitions for both boys and girls begin in April and wrap up with the State Tournament held in Madison.
De Pere Rugby is dedicated to fostering an environment where young athletes can grow through positive sportsmanship, building self-confidence, and cultivating a strong work ethic. The program emphasizes teamwork and fun, ensuring that every participant has an enriching and enjoyable experience on and off the field. Players learn to handle pressure, overcome setbacks, and push through adversity, which builds mental toughness and an ability to manage challenges in all aspects of life.
Testimonial from Middle School Parent:

This was my son's first year playing rugby, and it exceeded every expectation. At 14, he was new to the sport and unsure what to expect, but the coaches created such a positive, encouraging environment that he felt part of the team from day one.

Over the season, I watched his confidence grow; not just in his athletic ability, but in the way he carries himself off the field. He learned discipline, teamwork and how to push himself in ways he never thought he could. The camaraderie among the players is something truly special, and the coaches model respect, resilience and sportsmanship in everything they do.

Rugby gave my son more than just a new sport, it gave him a community and life skills he will carry forward. We are so grateful we found De Pere Rugby Club. I would encourage any parent to give rugby a chance for their child.
